General Transportation Notes

General information for parents arranging transportation

For details on locations, times, etc. see Transportation Specifics 2008.

Fill out and return the Camp Transport Form:
The form indicates how you wish your son to travel to and from Pathfinder.
Copies are available on this web page. Download, complete, and send to Camp.
Please fax the form to Pathfinder: 705-633-5500.

Make sure your Camper has proper identification:
For boys entering Canada from the US and overseas, a passport or birth certificate. If your son is traveling by air, he must have a passport. If your son is traveling by road, he must have at least a birth certificate.

Make Convenient Airline Reservations:
For dates flying to Camp, choose arrival times in Toronto between 10:00 am – 12:00 noon if possible. For dates flying home from Camp, choose similar departure times. Generally, your effort helps us to make the pick-up and drop off experience pleasant for everyone.

Naturally, if you can only get a particular airline flight, we will accommodate you.

Tips for Comfortable Passengers

Be sure your Pathfinder-bound Camper has a lunch and drink. It is helpful to have his rain jacket packed where he can easily get at it. He may bring his personal stereo or game machine for the travel days, but these will be locked in the Camp Safe during the session. You can give your Camper some pocket money for the air flight. Any left over will be locked in the camp safe for him. There is no need to give your Camper extra cash for bus travel. The bus does not make a food stop, so the packed lunch is a better choice than providing cash. The bus ride usually includes an on-board movie; these are G or PG titles.

Traveling with Important Documents and Medicines

Your Camper may be bringing prescription or over the counter medications to Camp. These should be in their original containers, all in one Ziploc bag with an identifying label and dosage instructions. This should be given to the Staff member on hand at the earliest opportunity. For example, hand to the bus counselors before departure.

Likewise passports, birth certificates, airline tickets and other documents should be turned over to the Staff member on hand at the earliest opportunity.

Security at Airports and Borders

To avoid delays and hassles, make sure your Camper packs all objects such as pen knives, soaps, lotions and shampoo etc. in his camp trunk or checked baggage and not in a carry-on bag. Have his identification ready to show or give over to the Staff member on hand. Give your camper Camp’s phone number! 705.633.5553 .
